The existing gold standard of navigation within the Bilio-pancreatic system uses passive mechanical devices that have limited maneuvering capabilities and are highly dependent on Xray images to follow and track their location.

SwiftDuct is advancing the navigation concept by adding sensing capabilities based on Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) technology

EIS Technology

Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) is a powerful analytical technique used to study the electrical properties of materials and systems in various fields. In the healthcare system, EIS can be applied to assess and monitor biological systems, such as cells, tissues, and biofilms.

By measuring the impedance response to an alternating current (AC) signal, researchers and clinicians are able to study the electrical behavior of biological materials, assess their health or disease status, and develop diagnostic tools or therapeutic interventions based on the data.
